The General Home Buying Process

1. Get pre-approved for a loan. Getting pre-approved determines how much you can afford to borrow. It allows you to move swiftly when you find the right home, especially when there are other interested buyers. It also indicates to the seller that you are serious and really can afford to buy the property.
2. Shop around for properties. Create a realistic idea of the property you would like to buy. We will discuss what features are most important to you and then show you homes that should meet your expectations.
3. Make an offer. Once you find a home that best meets your needs, we will assist you in making an offer to purchase the home. Terms of the offer such a sale price, down payment, home inspections, and settlement date are all negotiable. We will structure your offer to save you the most money possible.
4. Prepare for Settlement. Once you reach an agreement with the seller, we will begin to prepare for Settlement. Before your settlement date, I will assist in finalizing all details including the mortgage, home inspections, homeowners insurance, utilities, and moving plans.
5. Settlement! This is when you take ownership of the home. Before rolling out the welcome mat, consider some moving basics: arranging for an alarm company, cleaning or replacing the carpet, painting, and notifying the post office of your new address. The best time for renovations is often before you move in
